Redistricting and Tenants’ Rights

Learn about redistricting and why it is important in the struggle for tenants' rights. Join us and other tenant activists on Monday, October 24 at 6:30 pm at The Legal Aid Society (199 Water Street) for a discussion with Susan Lerner, Executive Director, Common Cause New York about the upcoming redrawing of political district lines. New York will soon have new lines for State Senate, State Assembly and US House of Representatives.

Many groups are working to insure a fair, honest legislative redistricting -- instead of the usual bipartisan gerrymander controlled by the majority party leaders in Albany. Susan Lerner will explain the redistricting process, why it matters to tenants and other New Yorkers who want fair policies, and what you can do to help keep it fair, open and honest.
